1. Try and learn a few phrases of Mandarin such as Hello, How are you, Thank You. This will show your interested to learn and will help break the ice.
2. When you shake hands on the first occasion use one hand with a slight bow. When you feel that you relationship is becoming stronger shake hands using both hands to show the warm of your relationship.You must shake hands with every one even if it is a large delegation.
3. Then you must present your business card, one side in English and the other side in Mandarin, to your client using two hands. The Mandarin side should be facing the person you are greeting and bow. You
should present the side of your card that is in the person’s language.
4. When you receive a business card. Take a 3 to 4 seconds to study both sides and ask questions if you wish. This is a really good way to show your respect to that person. Place the card in a card holder but don't put it in your back pockets.
